Belarusian composer of orchestral, chamber, choral, vocal, and piano works that have been performed in Europe and elsewhere.
Ms. Gorelova studied composition with Anatoly Bogatyrev and Dmitry Smolsky at the Belarusian State Academy of Music in Minsk from 1972–79 and with Yuri Fortunatov at the P. I. Tchaikovsky State Conservatory in Moscow from 1980–87.
Among her honours are the State Prize of Belarus (1992, for Anno mundi ardentis) and the Special Prize from the President of Belarus (2001, for Concerto [2 trumpets]). Her music has been performed in Belarus, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine, and the USA.
Ms. Gorelova is also active in other positions. She co-founded with Sergey Beltiukov, Vyacheslav Kuznetsov, Dmitry Lybin, Yevgeny Poplavsky (Yauhen Paplauski), and other composers the Belarusian Society for Contemporary Music in Minsk in 1990.
She has taught composition, orchestral history and polyphony at the Belarusian State Academy of Music since 1980.
